How to Find the Best Condo Floor Plan

    • October 26, 2019

Condos are available in a number of different layouts and many people want to be at the front of the line when a new condo development is put on the market in order to pick out the best floor plan. Finding the right layout not only provides you with the space you’re looking for in a home but also influences your investment in terms of a resale.

    Bedrooms

Many condos have a floor plan that includes 2 bedrooms that are separated by a wall. This may not be your best option if you know that the person that will be using the bedroom beside you is loud or has a different work schedule than you do. In this type of scenario you may want to choose a condo that has a bedroom on the other side of the hallway or down the hall.

    Lighting

When reviewing your options look at the lighting throughout the condo to determine which rooms will get the most natural light. Lighting is, in fact, one of the most important features to consider when you’re choosing a condo. If you’re a budding chef you’ll want to have light streaming through the windows in the kitchen and if you spend a lot of time in the living room you’ll want to make sure that there is plenty of light available there.

    Open-Concept

Open-concept layouts are very popular and provide a great selling feature if you’re looking at your condo as an investment. A condo that looks like a set of boxed rooms just doesn’t have the same appeal as a condo that’s more open and offers more space.

    Hallway

In terms of space, it’s important to look at the hallway in the unit to make sure that a lot of square footage isn’t being wasted on it. In some cases a hallway can take up 200 square feet of the condominium or more, which really just amounts to wasted space. Since space is such a commodity in a condo you should also examine the storage available and how it has been incorporated into the unit.

Finding the best layout is just as important as finding the right building and location. You are going to be spending a lot of time in this condo so you won’t want to feel boxed-in due to lack of storage areas.
