Massey Tower: Toronto’s MOD Developments Inc. is pleased to announce the official purchase of 197-201 Yonge Street in the Theatre Block in downtown Toronto. Across from the Eaton Centre, The site will completeley restored Darling and Pearson designed Canadian Bank of Commerce branch which opened in 1905 and which has sat abandoned since 1987.
ERA Architects will be overseeing the restoration of this building, with a 60-storey condominium tower designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects adding it to the toronto city skyline. With interior designers Cecconi Simone and landscape architects Janet Rosenberg + Associates, the same designers of Mod’s current project at St. Joseph Street and Yonge called Five.
The 20,000 square foot site contains the historically designated Canadian Bank of Commerce Building, The developer MOD plans to completely restore the four-storey portion of the bank and launch a 60-storey mixed-used development behind the historic landmark.
